Wildflower Meadow
Wildflower meadows are one of the rarest habitats in the UK and we have lost 97% of our wild flower meadows since the 1930s.
In Spring 2019 we began to pilot the transformation of a piece of land in Gloucestershire into a vibrant wildflower meadow.
The project aims to increase the bio-diversity of the area and provide shelter and food for important pollinators, while also supporting communities to feel a greater connection to nature and promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
Details of our annual programme of community gatherings for local residents can be founded on the project site. You can also follow the development of the meadow on instagram.
The Wildflower Meadow is a project developed by Shrinking Space, and is part of a new experimental research site Cultural Ecology - exploring agroecology and biodiversity through art, culture and social design.
The project supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
The 2019 pilot project was supported by Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme, run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork.
